ASIFA Portland, PNCA & GKIDS welcome members and students to a screening of The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales with Director Benjamin Renner.
This screening is a private event open to ASIFA-Portland members (and the students of PNCA). Employees of LAIKA also enjoy membership by virtue of their company’s sponsorship. Please bring your employee badge. Others may sign-up / renew the $20 annual ASIFA-Portland membership, online or at the door.
GKIDS proudly presents The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales, another hilarious, heartwarming tale of animal misfits from the creators of the Academy Award®-nominated Ernest & Celestine.
The countryside isn’t always as calm and peaceful as it’s made out to be, and the animals on this farm are particularly agitated: a fox who mothers a family of chicks, a rabbit who plays the stork, and a duck who wants to be Santa Claus. Directors Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert adapt Renner’s own acclaimed graphic novel into a delirious, delightful triptych of interlocking stories, with a pacing and visual spontaneity that harkens back to classic Looney Tunes shorts and slapstick two-reelers.
North of Blue is an abstract, animated feature (60 min.) that began in the mysterious winter landscape of the far north where I was filmmaker-in-residence at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in Dawson City, Canada. The program will include a slide show about the Yukon and how the film was made.
Jamie Haggerty created the music and sound design with additional sound effects by Chris Barber. Paint effects and title design by Brian Kinkley.
supported by fellowships from KIAC, Caldera Foundation and Willapa Bay AIR.
Hope you can join me at Portland’s elegant, historic movie palace, the Hollywood Theatre!
