Animators, let’s get social and watch some new local films together!
ANIMATORS SOCIAL AT SALMON ST. STUDIOS
Saturday October 17
6:00-9:00pm @ Salmon St. Studios
109 SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97214
Co-hosted by ASIFA Portland & Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH
Gather at Salmon Street Studios, a funky old warehouse that’s been converted into workspace for artists. The rooftop view is fantastic, so be sure to come early — sunset’s at 6:21pm. There’ll be potluck fare; consider bringing a snack/drink to share.
Screenings are planned for 7pm & 8pm. Five up-and-coming animators from the Pacific NW College of Art will share new and recent work. Screening 1 spotlights John Summerson, whose projects have been winning major awards across the country. Be sure to catch his just-finished film Deers, which explores two friends’ attitudes about animals and mortality with surprising gentleness and profound humanity. Screening 2 presents recent films from Beryl Allee, Matt Dan, Jack Graydon, and Eric Hoofnagle — including Filters, Pinko Cowboyo, Plump Town, and highlights from The Hoofnagle Tapes.
DIRECTIONS
The entrance to the studio is just east of the train tracks and below a modest “109 Salmon Studios” sign. There is usually street parking available in the evening all around the area, which is all two-hour parking and free after 7pm. The event will be held in the upstairs photo/video studio. Signs will be posted to help you easily find your way.
