The second annual unconference for Portland’s freelance animators is nearly upon us. Thanks to our friends at Webtrends, we have a big, chic venue overlooking the heart of downtown Portland— seriously, it’s worth coming for the view and coffee.
BeTween is a participant-driven conference about the practicalities of working as a freelance animation artist. Bottom line: if you’re a freelance animation professional or are hoping to become one, you should make the time to attend.
We had great feedback from last year. Participants found the event useful, eye-opening, and, dare we say, fun. Discussion topics can include how to bid a job, how to build a client base, how to manage your taxes, and how to stay creative while staying in business. The organizers will have experts on hand in various fields (copyright law, accountancy, social media, etc.) and could use your expertise as well. Come to share insights, learn about resources, and connect with your community!
Registration is limited, so please sign up in advance. Admission is free to members of ASIFA. Non-members pay $6 in advance, or $10 at the door. Check out the BeTween PDX website to register, get updates, and share your comments, questions, and ideas. See you Saturday!
